If you find yourself in Florida mid-March (and who wouldn’t want to be) there is a must do event occurring in Central Florida. The Sunnyland Antique and Classic boat show will be the place to be for anyone with a taste for beautiful classic and vintage boats. Running from March 22nd thru March 25th this is the largest show of its kind on the East Coast. There are sunning wooden boats from early classics to early examples of fiberglass craft resembling art-deco art pieces. Both on land and in water, located on Lake Dora at the Wooten Waterfront Park at Downtown Tavares, Florida you can find a wide array of stunning boats. The show has a spectacular collection of over 250 boats scattered throughout the pretty lakeside park and plenty more boats in water at the docks and running about on the lake. You can stroll the docks and chat with owners and take in row after row of gleaming varnished wooden works of art, or sit on a bench park side and just take in all the boats and activities occurring the lake. Enjoy food and beverages from on site vendors and the Beer Garden or enjoy a meal at any of the near by restaurants. There is a market where those hard to find vintage parts can be purchased and even an area called The Field Of Dreams where you can purchase your own vintage or classic boat in conditions from full blown restorations to a total fixer-upper. There is even a live steam locomotive that runs past the venue and tickets can be purchased on site. If seeing the whole thing from the air is more your speed then seaplane rides are also available as the park is right next to Tavares’s famous seaplane facility. Be sure to bring your camera as there are plenty of great subjects. See below for some of our shots of the event.
